Let's Talk

We provide financial life planning and investment advice to individuals, couples, families and small businesses.

From detailed financial guidance to periodic coaching, our services are customized to fit your needs.

We meet with clients in our Akron, Ohio and Chicago, Illinois offices, as well as virtually.

The first step is scheduling your introductory phone call with Mary Deshong-Kinkelaar, CFP® to get to know each other and see if we are a good fit.

Financial planning should be about you and planning, not product sales

Kinkelaar & Associates was founded by Mary Deshong-Kinkelaar, a Certified Financial Planner™ practitioner, based on her frustration in seeing inherent conflicts of interest with the way most financial advice is provided -- with an emphasis on investment and insurance product sales rather than customized and holistic financial life planning.

Mary felt there had to be a better way to serve people on such an important life issue. This philosophy formed her commitment to offering financial planning services through as-needed, “fee-only” engagements.

Our clients pay us directly. We never accept third party compensation. As a result, our advice is not influenced by commissions or incentives.

You receive custom planning, not a cookie cutter report designed to sell you products.

We are legally bound to work in a client’s best interest. While you might think all financial service providers offer this level of care, many do not.

Your interests come first and we’ve signed an oath to show our commitment.

We’re not restricted by an affiliation with a bank, brokerage, or insurance company, allowing us to advise on a wide range of topics.

You receive specific recommendations focused on meeting your unique needs.

With as-needed engagements, we do not impose income and net worth minimums, or long-term contracts and we do not take over your accounts.

You retain control and get the level of service you need at a cost effective rate.
